Library

The library of Guru Nanak College was established in 1966 when this prestigious institution started in Kapurthala. It is a fully computerized library following KOHA Open Source Software. The library has got membership with INFLIBNET and it provides access to Web OPAC for its readers. In order to cater to the demands of the curriculum and reading taste of various age groups, the college has a well-stocked library with books, reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, biographies, journals, magazines & Newspapers. We have subscribed to 11 newspapers in three languages and 40 magazines. Library is equipped with Computers and Internet facility for students as well as teachers. The books are issued for a period of 14 days to the students. The college provides facility of consultation of Library resources by the students of other colleges and universities. Open shelf system in the library helps the students to sift and select the books according to their taste and enrich themselves by reading the same either while sitting in the library or by carrying these to home to read at easy. The students are given training to consult library, to locate appropriate references to an assigned topic, to locate and manage information through internet, to consult educational journals and abstracts, to make their assignments and projects and to compile information from different documents etc. Bound volumes of old educational journals can also be consulted in the library. The library provides many facilities to the students and staff of the college like Internet facility, current awareness service, book bank facility etc..

Common Room

Common Room acts as a student haven, offering a break from academics. The common room has been equipped with exceptional seating arrangements along with that can be utilized for various activities by the students. The space is also furnished with proper hygiene facilities.

It’s a space designed for relaxation and socializing between classes. Various facilities like comfortable furniture that allows students to unwind and hot-case to reheat the lunch boxes of students. This fosters a sense of community and helps students develop social connections beyond the classroom.

The common room is supervised and maintained by the respective in-charge.

Dispensary

The college has a dispensary facility on campus to cater to the immediate medical needs of students and staff.  The dispensary is under the supervision of a well-qualified and experienced doctor.  The consultant doctor visits once a week in the college. The dispensary often stocks over-the-counter pain relievers and bandages.

 Salient features in this regard are :

  1. Free medicine to students and faculty members from the college dispensary.
  2. Regular medical check-up of each student is taken and proper records are maintained.
